Terra House Founded For: Sarah and Archibald Palmer Mascot: Bighorn Sheep Colours: Green and White Element: Earth
Founded in honour of the two people who raised Eve, Terra House is closely associated with the earth due to both the way that the Palmer’s lived and the manner in which they raised their adoptive daughter. Even when they were confronted with the possibility that she was different from other children her age, they refused to abandon their love for her and cast her out despite the dangers that it would inevitably bring. Their loyalty and hard-working nature at the very foundations on which Terra House was built. Many students who are sorted into Terra have a connection with either the earth or with the animals that walk it, and often choose careers that lead to botany or the care of these magical creatures. However, several Healers have been known to come from Terra house as well, particularly those who specialize in treating plant and bug based poisons.
Ignus House Founded For: Claire Goodman Mascot: Lynx Colours: Red and Black Element: Fire
Founded in honour of the young woman who lost her life to a family that refused to acknowledge her differences Ignus House has always been associated with courage and fire. Claire Goodman was perhaps one of the most passionate students that Eve had ever come across, a trait that she has since seen repeated in many of the other pupils to enter Hollow Creek. It was her fierce determination to tell her family who she really was that inspired a lot of other youngsters to leave their homes and potentially dangerous situations in the hopes of discovering who they were and what they could do. Many of these students have a connection to the element of fire, and favour careers that are physical in nature, such as Hit Wizards, Aurors and field researchers. Many Quidditch players have also favoured Ignus House over the years as well, particularly those who are driven to make themselves a superstar on the pitch.
Unda House Founded For: John Harris Mascot: Beaver Colours: Blue and White Element: Water
In a time when being different was bad and being accused of witchcraft meant an early death, many would expect the teachings of the father to become the basis on which the son lived his life. Such was not the case with John Harris, who was honoured to have one of the four houses founded for him. By refusing the superstitions of the villagers and defending Eve from harm, he proved to be an invaluable person in her life who helped to heal many of the old wounds she carried on her heart. Unda House is often linked to the water for its many healing and nurturing properties, and is usually favoured by those who have the same sort of traits in them for their later careers. They are intelligent and often ambitious, with a desire to succeed high on their list of things to accomplish. Healers and those who choose to study other fields of healing and medicinal magic seem to fit quite well into Unda House, though this house has also been known to produce several renowned writers, journalists and actors.
Aura House Founded For: Salem Witch Trials Victims Mascot: Golden Eagle Colours: Yellow and Black Element: Air
This is the only house at Hollow Creek that was not founded for someone in particular, but rather founded in honour of all those who lost their lives during the Salem Witch Trials in 1962 as well as all who have been killed since that time for being of magical descent. Knowing that many innocent lives have been taken since those dark times, Eve wanted to commemorate their loss and pay tribute to the many ways in which they integrated into No-Maj society. Those sorted into Aura House are usually able to think on their feet and possess a strong ability to use the resources they are surrounded with, manipulate a situation if needed and often can talk their way into or out of anything if they wish. But these are the ones who are often seen as being a little more free spirited, as they don’t usually conform to the norms of society and forge their own paths. Many such students have graduated to enjoy careers in the research field, journalism, Quidditch and other art forms.
