Valerian had picked his gift thoughtfully. The later summer wildflowers were honestly the best choice. Having spent a good portion of his morning out in the back meadows of Hart's Creek, he was content to note that he was able to put together a sizable bouquet of the wild beauties. The man had then carted them off to work with him, careful to keep them in a vase to ensure their continued vitality throughout the morning hours. The werewolf wanted them to remain bright and vibrant... just like the woman that had started to claim his heart over the last few months. Katherine deserved nothing less than the best and that meant making an effort to ensure that even the gifts he gave her were not sub par. To do anything else was lazy. Valerian was the furthest thing from lazy any person could be. After conquering mountains of paperwork, and working with a few of the trainees, he took his lunch break. Once more, the bouquet he had put together that morning was carted off with him, wrapped with a simple red bow, as he did every time he brought her flowers. He stopped at his favorite lunch spot and grabbed both of their lunches before navigating the halls of Alora Jane. He knew his way to the magical creature wing better than any other, having frequented the wing many times over the last few years. Navigating to Katherine's cubicle, he snuck the flowers around the side before poking his head over just after. "Good afternoon," he said with a playful smile. "I've come to replace the old ones... and I brought lunch." The man held up the paper bag with both of their lunches in it. "When do you go on lunch?" Valerian offered, blue eyes bright and lively. ----- Words: 301 Tagged: Katherine LennoxNotes: <3

It had been a few months now since things between her and Valerian had skirted over being “professional” and moved into something more personal. He had been in so frequently to be treated, both because of his lycathropy and because of his job. Kate had always been the one who was best prepared to treat him when he arrived...though she had begun to wonder if he did it on purpose or if it was just fate. Something seemed keen on bringing them together. Almost every time she lifted her head from the chart in her hands, she swore that she could see his bright smile and handsome blue eyes waiting for her. But he was still a patient. Katherine was still working on becoming a fully fledged Healer. If anyone were to realize that their relationship had moved beyond the professional level, they were sure to get themselves into trouble. Her career at the hospital could be compromised. Giving her head a small shake, she tried to refocus on the paperwork that sat on the desk before her. The latest patient to require her attention was a young man who wasn’t all that different from Valerian, so perhaps that was why her mind had wandered back to the Auror. This particular young man had been just a little less enthusiastic about his condition though, still early enough in his recovery that every day was a struggle. His recent bite had drastically altered his lifestyle. Thus far, he wasn’t entirely sure how to handle it. Valerian on the other hand was….she didn’t entirely know how to describe it. In a way he was calm and used the head that say on his shoulders well. But there were moments when Kate caught him looking at her and she could swear that she saw the wildness within those blue eyes. The wolf who was always battling with him in some regard. Though...she never knew why. Katherine gasped softly as a hand with flowers was quietly thrust around the corner of her cubicle. Within seconds, a face appeared over the top with a grin that was too familiar for her to ignore. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. She pressed a hand against her chest. ”Jesus, Hart….you scared me.” Katherine bit her lip a little as she looked at the flowers in his hand, taking them carefully. She brought them to her nose, inhaling deeply. ”They’re beautiful. But you really don’t have to keep-...” He drew her attention away from the flowers and to the bag in his hands. Lunch. ”I-...” Kate was supposed to have had her lunch almost an hour ago. But between being busy with patients and just not wanting to eat, she hadn’t gone. ”Lennox! I told you to go for lunch an hour ago! Why are you still here? Get lost!?”Katherine winced. ”Thanks Melody…” Her dark brown eyes looked up at Valerian once more, shrugging apologetically. ”I guess I’m going now…”WORD COUNT: 506 TAGGED: Valerian HartNOTES: Here we go.
